Some government-minted coins, like the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf, are actually .9999 fine (99.99% pure). All silver products sold on Five Star Silver meet or exceed the .999 fine silver standard.

.925 sterling silver is an alloy composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper. The copper is added to improve the durability and hardness of the silver, since pure silver (.999) is quite soft and prone to scratching on its own. Sterling silver is the standard used in most silver jewelry, flatware, and decorative items. The .925 stamp (or 925 hallmark) identifies a piece as sterling silver. While sterling silver is beautiful and valuable, it contains a lower silver content than investment-grade .999 fine silver bullion and may tarnish more easily over time due to the copper content.

Casting grain, also known as silver shot, consists of small granules or pellets of .999 fine silver. It is commonly used by jewelers, silversmiths, and artisans for casting and fabrication projects. It is also an efficient and affordable way to purchase silver by weight, as the manufacturing cost is lower than that of minted coins or rounds.

One troy ounce is approximately 31.1035 grams. This is the standard unit of measurement used for precious metals worldwide. When we list a product as "1 oz," we are referring to 1 troy ounce, not a standard avoirdupois ounce.

A troy ounce weighs approximately 31.1035 grams, while a standard (avoirdupois) ounce weighs approximately 28.3495 grams. This means a troy ounce is about 10% heavier than a regular ounce. The precious metals industry universally uses troy ounces for pricing and weight measurement, so all weights listed on Five Star Silver are in troy ounces unless otherwise noted.

Five Star Silver offers a 7-day return, refund, and exchange policy on all products, including silver bullion. To be eligible, you must notify us via email within 7 days of receiving your order and keep the item in its original packaging. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable, and you are responsible for return shipping costs. A restocking fee of $50 or 10% of the total order price (whichever is greater) may apply. Additionally, a market loss fee may be charged if the silver spot price has dropped since your original purchase.
